从前，楚国山脚下住着一位牧人。他和女儿一起照看一群绵羊。

Long ago, a shepherd lived near the hills of Chu. He and his daughter cared for a flock of sheep.

女儿发现羊圈的篱笆松了，露出一道小缝：“爹爹，我们把它补好吧！”

His daughter noticed a loose part of the fence. “Father, let’s mend this little gap!”

牧人看了看，说：“缝还小，明天再修吧。”到了夜里，风把篱笆吹得更松了。

The shepherd looked and said, “It is only a small gap. I’ll fix it tomorrow.” That night, the wind loosened the fence further.

第二天一早，牧人一数，少了一只小羊。他望着篱笆上的缺口，后悔极了。

The next morning, the shepherd counted the flock and found one lamb missing. He looked at the gap with deep regret.

女儿轻声说：“现在补好，别的小羊就不会再走丢了。”牧人点点头。

His daughter said softly, “If we mend it now, the other sheep will not wander away.” The shepherd nodded.

父女找来结实的树枝，用麻绳绑牢，又把每一处篱笆都认真检查了一遍。

Together they added sturdy branches, tied them with rope, and carefully checked every part of the fence.

傍晚又起了风，新补的羊圈稳稳当当，羊群安安静静地留在里面。

When the wind rose again that evening, the newly mended sheepfold stayed firm, and the flock remained safely inside.

这时，远处传来铃声，走丢的小羊找回了家。牧人明白：出了问题及时补救，还不算晚。

Then a bell jingled in the distance—the lost lamb had found its way home. The shepherd understood: it is not too late to fix a problem.

发现问题后，不要只顾后悔。及时改正、吸取教训，就能避免更多损失。

When we notice a problem, we should not only regret it. Fixing it promptly and learning from it can prevent further loss.
