从前，一口浅井里住着一只小青蛙。一天，一只从东海来的大鳖停在井边。

Long ago, a little frog lived in a shallow well. One day, a great softshell turtle from the Eastern Sea stopped beside it.

青蛙得意地说：“我在井里多快活！想跳就跳，累了就在石缝边休息。”

The frog said proudly, “Life in my well is wonderful! I can hop whenever I like and rest beside the stones.”

青蛙请大鳖下来看看。大鳖试着迈步，可井口太窄，只好停在外面。

The frog invited the turtle down. The turtle tried to step in, but the opening was too narrow, so it stayed outside.

青蛙挺起胸膛：“你看，这口井全归我，难道还有比这里更好的地方吗？”

Puffing out its chest, the frog said, “This whole well is mine. Could any place be better?”

大鳖温和地说：“东海宽得望不到边，深得量不到底，许多生命都住在那里。”

The turtle said gently, “The Eastern Sea is too wide to see across and too deep to measure. Countless creatures live there.”

“大雨不会让它满出来，久旱也不会让它干下去。和大海相比，这口井只是小小一角。”

“Heavy rains do not fill it to the brim, and long dry spells do not empty it. Beside the sea, this well is only a tiny corner.”

青蛙安静下来：“原来我见过的，只是世界很小的一角。我还有好多事情不知道呢！”

The frog grew quiet. “What I have seen is only a tiny corner of the world. There is so much I do not know!”

青蛙爬上井沿，请大鳖继续讲外面的故事。从此，它愿意学习，去认识更大的世界。

The frog climbed to the rim and asked for more stories. From then on, it was eager to learn about the wider world.

世界比眼前所见更广。保持好奇、谦虚倾听，才能不断增长见识。
