The air near the leaves cooled too. When it reached its dew point, water vapor could no longer remain invisible in the air.

The vapor touched the cooler leaf and condensed into tiny liquid drops—dew.

Dew is not a plant’s tears, and it usually does not fall from the sky. Below freezing, frost forms instead.
