“影子为什么总跟着我？”乐乐拉住妈妈的手。

"Why does my shadow always follow me?" Lele asks, holding Mom's hand.

太阳光大致沿直线来到地面。乐乐站住，身体挡住了一部分光。

Sunlight travels roughly in straight lines to the ground. When Lele stands still, his body blocks some of it.

身体另一侧少了直射光，地上就出现较暗的地方——影子。

On the other side of his body, less direct light reaches the ground, making a darker patch: his shadow.

乐乐向前走，挡光的位置也向前走，影子便跟着移动。

Lele walks forward, and the place where he blocks the light moves forward too, so the shadow moves with him.

光源的角度变了，影子的方向也会变，长短还会不一样。

When the light source comes from a different angle, the shadow changes direction and can become longer or shorter.

乐乐跑到路灯下：我懂了！不是影子跟着我，是我一直在挡光。

Lele runs under a streetlamp. "I get it! It isn't following me—I'm carrying the place where I block the light!"

乐乐看看镜子，又问：“镜子为什么能照出我？”

Lele looks into a mirror and asks, "Why can a mirror show me?"

身体挡住光，另一侧就会出现较暗的影子；人移动时，挡光的位置也一起移动。

When a body blocks light, it makes a darker area on the other side that moves with the body.
