As the Sun rose higher, the sky grew bright. Linlin looked carefully, but could not find a single star.

“The stars have not disappeared,” Mother said. “They are still far away in the sky.”

阳光进入大气，撞到空气分子和微粒，向四面八方散开。

When sunlight enters the atmosphere, it meets air molecules and tiny particles, scattering in every direction.

All that scattered sunlight brightens the whole sky. Compared with it, faint starlight is too weak for our eyes to pick out.

During a safely observed eclipse the sky can darken, and professional equipment can sometimes find bright stars in daylight.
